Thursday: Gustav + 3

Thursday showed some real signs of improvement, and other signs of real frustration. The good news was I was able to get to a drug store, and renew a prescription. Whole Foods was open and we were able to easily get in and find some food and ice.

The frustration was waiting almost 3 hours in the heat for fuel for the generator. It’s not that there is a shortage of gas. There isn’t any power to all but maybe two stations in our neighborhood (within a 5 mile radius). No power, no way to pump fuel. There are only about 4
or 5 stations in the whole parish that are open.

Some people are driving out to Lafayette for fuel (45 mins each way). But at least now, we have enough for our generator until Saturday PM. And last night we were able to turn on some fans to cool off the house. I actually slept for 6 hours straight. Finally.
